Woolf's Relevance

I find that sections of Woolf's writing are still applicable today, however, it would be unfair to generalize the conditions Woolf experienced into being the same as today. There has been much improvement in the lives of women, and women are seen as nearly equals. But, there lies the problem. Women are not inferior to men. Women do not have less of a learning capacity than men. (Being women, we can likely argue that women are indeed smarter than that average man...) Women today are not prohibited from any behavior in which a man is allowed, yet, women may be looked down upon for participating in the same activities as men. There is a certain amount of sexism engrained into society - no man or woman is immune from the societal norms that we have been taught to follow. However, while Woolf's writing is still relevant, it holds much less truth today. For this, women should be thankful. Bold women have pioneered the way for us to attain anything we dream of with a little confidence, courage, and determination.
